When Bob Coons noticed water intruding into his mobile home, he knew he had a roof problem. A cold winter had created ice dams, causing water to get trapped under the shingles–thus the leaking. Bob started an internet search for a roofing company and, as he says, “stumbled over Goldspire.” He filled out the site form to request a free estimate, and within a few days, Goldspire owner Willie Swarey came by to take a look.

“He checked everything over, he gave me a price, and I pulled the trigger,” Bob says. Retired after years in law enforcement, Bob is naturally skeptical, but he was won over by Willie’s knowledge and straightforward manner. It was not a high-pressure sales situation; instead, Willie clearly knew the business and answered all of Bob’s questions to his satisfaction.
The Roofers’ Ballet
Because it was winter, Bob really wasn’t expecting much activity until the weather warmed up. But at the end of March, Goldspire called and asked if he was ready to have the roof done “the day after tomorrow.”
“Three men showed up with the sun, and 10 hours later I had a standing seam roof,” Bob recalls. “I monitored their activity off-and-on, and I was impressed with their work ethic, talent, and stamina.”
He describes the roofing process as a ballet of sorts–one man rolling panels, one doing some hand-bending and running the panel from the truck to a third man on the roof who was doing the installation.
“I watched the second man run repeatedly, taking the panel from the truck to the man on the roof. I don’t think I saw him walk once,” says Bob. “At my age, that impressed me.”
In addition to their work ethic, Bob found the crew a pleasure to interact with. “They were genuinely nice people who answered my every question.”
All Done…For Now

Bob chose standing seam because of its longevity and durability. The metal panels work well on his low-pitched mobile home roof, and because of the quality of both the material and the installation, he’s confident he won’t have problems–or need to get on the roof!–anytime soon.
When the job was done, Bob walked his property and was pleased to find it was left clean and tidy. His first roofing experience with Goldspire was a pleasure, and it may not be his last!
“I have a large garage that I built 40 or 50 years ago, and a large pole barn on my property, and the roofs are starting to go,” Bob explains. “If I pursue anyone to replace those roofs, it’s going to be Willie Swarey. I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment.”
